Permanent makeup is NOT RECOMMENDED for any clients who are or have: • Pregnant or nursing • History of Keloids or Hypertrophic scarring • Diabetic (require doctor’s clearance) • Chemotherapy (consult your doctor) • Viral infections and/or diseases • Epilepsy • Pacemaker or major heart problems • Organ transplant • Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.) • Sick (cold, flu, etc.) • Accutane in the past year • Had Botox in the last month • Heart conditions, Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure • Any treatment, medication, or illness that compromises the immune system / healing would make you NOT a good candidate for micropigmentation procedures. --------------------------------------------- BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT (BROWS) Permanent cosmetic enhancements normally require multiple application sessions. To achieve the best results, you will be required to return for at least one control procedure four to six weeks after the initial application. Be prepared for the color intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the procedure. This will subside and become softer as the skin heals. This process can take up to 14 days. DO NOT take Aspirin, Fish Oil, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary, 72 hrs prior to your procedure. Tylenol is fine. DO NOT work out 24 hrs prior to your procedure. AVOID sun and tanning one week prior to your procedure. Discontinue Glycolics, Retin-A or Retinol products 4 weeks before the scheduled appointment. DO NOT use AHA skincare products close to the enhancement area 2 weeks prior to and after your procedure. If you've had any cosmetic surgical procedures done on the face area, please wait TWO MONTHS to fully heal prior to the eyebrow tattoo procedure. DO NOT consume any alcohol beverages 24 HOURS before the scheduled appointment. This will prevent any excess bleeding, oozing, and minimizes swelling during the procedure. Do not wax, thread or tint your eyebrows one week before your procedure ( I will do this ) No facials or chemical peels a week prior to the scheduled appointment. If there are any exfoliation products at home, please use on the brow area a week prior to the appointment for the skin to take in the pigment(s) easily during the procedure. --------------------------------------------- AFTER YOUR TREATMENT (BROWS) For the first couple of days, brows will appear dark and very defined before the scabbing phase. The thickness will subside gradually as the days go by. Keep the area completely DRY for 24 hours. You may notice redness, whiteness or blanching around the area, this is quite normal and will subside within 12 hours. If you find any lymphatic fluid or blood weeping you can gently clean the area with the sterile water wipe provided, blotting gently dry to remove any moisture. (or clean & sterile unscented wipe, wash hands!) Redness, swelling, and stinging is normal and should subside by the following day completely. If the area feels unbearable for certain individuals who have low pain tolerance, please use a clean ice pack for comfort. You will go through three healing phases: 1-heal, 2-peel and 3-fade. Once the brow area starts to peel, it will appear flaky and unappealing. The area may feel a bit dry. Do not pick or pull at the treated area as it will result in pigment loss Once all scabs have fully fallen off completely and naturally, healed results should appear 10-30% lighter in color and 10-15% smaller in size from the initial. Consider using a waterproof total sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color fading. --------------------------------------------- ***NOTE: Everyone heals and accepts the pigment differently. We provide the same service for every client but retention is dependent on your skin and lifestyle When you leave the studio your brow tattoos are intact. That is the job of the technician. There ARE NO GUARANTEES made as to how your body will heal them. If they fade, blur or not take good, that is the result of YOUR skin, your lifestyle....not a result of the technique or the technician. NO one knows how the clients skin will heal. This is a potential risk all clients take when consenting to this procedure Permanent Makeup is an art, NOT a science. Clients results will vary and using a pencil or powder will/may still be needed. We have no control over your bodies healing process and each time a procedure is done, the pigment will have less retention due to scar tissue You ARE NOT a good candidate for microblading if you have LARGE pores (Large pores on your forehead & in the brow area) or Oily/Severely Oily Skin, your results WILL appear softer/solid or powdered looking If you are out in the sun a lot, have oily skin, use anti-aging creams, retinA/retinol products, acidic cleansers, natural elements, regular chemical peels, or exercise frequently, your permanent makeup WILL fade prematurely. The better you take care of the treated area and follow the provided aftercare, the longer it will last. LIP TATTOO FAQ HOW LONG WILL IT LAST? Depending on your skin, health and if you come for touchup refreshers, your tattoo will last from 2-5 years. Here are some factors will cause your semi-permanent tattoo to fade faster: Oily skin Retinol or Vitamin C Iron deficiency Sun exposure Exfoliants Exposure to salt water DOES IT HURT? It is slightly uncomfortable but completely bearable. The tattooing process lasts about an hour. Megan uses an excessive amount of numbing and her technique is extremely gentle. If you are nervous about pain, you may take 1-2 Tylenol 30 minutes before your appointment. DO NOT take Advil or drink a coffee before your appointment. Coffee and Advil will cause you to bleed lots and also make you more sensitive during the procedure. CAN I GET LIP BLUSH IF I HAVE DARK/COOL TONED LIPS? Yes, however, on the first session we will have to color correct your lips to cancel out the cool tones. This means the initial color we tattoo MUST be orange! If we are to tattoo any other color you risk darkening your lips further or having absolutely no results at all. When healed at 6 weeks, most if not all of the darkness in your lips will be covered and your lips will have a nudey-pink even tone. Note that results cannot be guaranteed and lightening or evening out dark lips may take a few sessions. Under no circumstances will Megan tattoo a "NUDE" color on dark or cool toned lips. If you are unsure if you have dark or cool toned lips you can send Megan a picture of your lips in natural light to confirm. Lips too dark or thick will be rejected so please be sure to email pictures if your lips are extremely dark grey or black in color. DO I NEED A TOUCHUP? Touchups are recommended for everybody. On touchup sessions, we can alter the shape and color of your tattoo or go bolder or fill in spots that didn't retain pigment as well as others during healing. Touchups will also add longevity to the life of your tattoo. A Touchup can be booked no sooner than 4 weeks of your last appointment. Please read the FAQ page to ensure you have waited long enough from laser treatments, filler or botox to have a touchup done. To book touchups or to find a specific spot that is not on the booking system please email Megan at Megan_soroka@yahoo.com. Touchups will be an extra charge and the touchup fee does go up after a period of time after the initial appointment. CAN I STILL GET LIP BLUSH IF I HAVE LIP FILLER? Yes! in no way does having Lip filler interfere with the process of tattooing lips or the results. Not that lip filler and lip blush appointments MUST be at least 4 weeks apart from each other. Lip filler is best getting it done before your lip blush tattoo. AM I ABLE TO HAVE THIS TREATMENT? You may NOT have this procedure if : You are under 18 You are pregnant or breastfeeding Have been on Accutane within the past year Have HIV or Hepatitis or any other infectious or viral diseases Undergoing Chemotherapy You are Epileptic You are taking medications that may affect how your skin responds to blood clotting and healing. You develop infections easily If your previous tattoo is too dark or thick (please email Megan at Megan_soroka@yahoo.com a photo for coverups) HOW CAN I PREPARE Do not consume caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment to prevent excessive pain and bleeding. Do NOT TAKE ADVIL or other blood thinners such a Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary, 48-72 hrs prior to your procedure. Extra strength Tylenol can be taken if you have low pain tolerance. Avoid exercising the day of the procedure. Do not take or get any chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, vitamin E, retinols, fish oil, at least 4 weeks before your appointment. Please read the aftercare and arrange your schedule accordingly to the healing stage. There is downtime for every procedure. For Lip Blush: If your appointment is booked during an outbreak of cold sores on your lips the procedure may not be done. Please be aware that you have the simplex virus herpes, you may awaken an outbreak following this treatment. It is highly recommended to take an anti-viral medication such as Zivorax 5 days before, then the day of. Then 5 days after or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. Do not get lip injections 4 weeks before and after this treatment. On the appointment date, we will consult about shape and color before we start the tattoo. Tattooing will not start until the final design is drawn for you and agreed on. CAN YOU COVER UP AN OLD TATTOO? Depending on the severity of the coverup it may not be able to be done. Therefore, in order to be approved for a cover up you must send pictures of your tattoo to Megan at Megan_soroka@yahoo.com DOES THIS PROCEDURE TRIGGER COLD SORES? This procedure can trigger cold sores for carriers of the herpes simplex virus. To prevent cold sores from flaring up it is recommended to go to your family doctor and get Zovirax or another antiviral medication prescribed to take 5 days prior procedure, the day of, and 5 days after. Note that a cold sore outbreak can alter the healed results of the tattoo. DO YOU HAVE A CANCELATION LIST? Megan does not have a cancelation list or waitlist. FOR LIP BLUSH CAN WE GO OUTSIDE THE LIPLINE? Yes, only 1 mm. The skin on the lips is not the same as on the face and things can look unnatural or get unpredictable when we tattoo too far outside the natural lipline. IF you go outside of the lipline too much you can have a dark outline around your lips because the lips and face are two different skins. POST APPOINTMENT (BROWS) After care is crucial, it is very important to follow these instructions for the full 10-day healing period to ensure proper healing and color retention. Results will vary for all individuals and we cannot guarantee your results. Let your brow tattoo DRY HEAL FOR 24 HOURS after the procedure. No water. No sweating. No picking what so ever. After the dry healing period, wipe with sterile water wipe provided for 3 days and moisturize your brow tattoo in the morning and at night with the A+D cream for the next 2 weeks whenever they feel dry or tight. Less is more just a very small amount. WHAT TO EXPECT DO NOT expect your brow tattoos to heal perfectly after the first session. This is a 2 step sometimes multiple step process. BE PATIENT during your 2-week healing process, your brows will change and appear different from day to day, THIS IS NORMAL. Immediately after your procedure brows will appear darker and more defined and this will last up to 2 weeks. Your brow tattoo can appear more solid, hair strokes may seem to disappear and it may look wet and painted on. THIS IS NORMAL. Around days 4-5 you will experience scabbing and your brows may look dry and flakey. DO NOT PICK your scabs, let them fall off naturally. If scabbing comes off prematurely, missing hair stokes will result and cause patchy brows. Your brow tattoo will take up to 4-6 weeks to fully heal. When the scabbing comes off the hair strokes may seem faint, this is because a fresh layer of skin has healed over the brow tattoo. Give your brows a few weeks and the hair strokes should resurface. You may experience itchiness in the brows after 10 days and up to 2 months because of the healing of the epidermal layer. Not everyone’s brows can heal clean and crisp. Hair strokes for oilier skin types tend to heal more solid and powdery while drier skin types tend to heal crisper and more defined. THINGS NOT TO DO DO NOT go on any sunny vacations and avoid the tanning booth! Excessive UV exposure will alter the pigment of your tattoo. DO NOT use laser light therapy on your brow tattoo. This can darken, lighten, and distort the pigment. DO NOT run direct water on your brow tattoo. This is crucial for the first few days! You don’t want to wash out any pigment. DO NOT use cleansers, soaps or any other creams on your brow tattoo. Wash around the area using a cleaning cloth or makeup wipe. DO NOT use Vaseline, Neosporin, and petroleum-based products on your tattoo. DO NOT apply any makeup on your brows for 2 weeks. DO NOT use exfoliants, retinol acids, or AHA’s on the area for 30 days after the appointment, it will fade your tattoo prematurely. DO NOT exercise and sweat for 10 days. Sweating may infect, discolour, or prematurely fade your brow tattoo. DO NOT go into sauna’s, pools, and steam rooms. DO NOT get massages, facials, or skin treatments during the healing process. For washing your face you can either use a baby wipe or facecloth and wash around brows without getting them wet at all. AVIOD THE BROW AREA. You can wash your face normally and get your brows wet after 10 days just make sure you don't leave your brows wet. Press or dab GENTLY on your rows after getting them wet. DO NOT WIPE OR SCRUB. Otherwise your scabs will fall off prematurely causing ink to fall out. TOUCH UP This is a 2-step process. The first session is used to build shape and gain symmetry. The second session is used to perfect the brows and add density. The first touch-up or second session is done within the first 1-2 months after the first session. It is your responsibility to book your touch up appointments. With the high demand it usually takes about 1 month to get a touch-up appointment so please plan accordingly. If your tattoo comes back too faded additional charges may apply. Do not expect perfect results after the first session. Darker skin women, permanent makeup will not look as bold or sharp compared to lighter skin clients. Some client’s skin may have a harder time retaining pigment and may require additional sessions. LONG TERM CARE There is no guarantee of results, everyone’s results will vary due to skin type, lifestyle, and the initial 7-day care and long-term care of your brow tattoo. Use at least SPF 50 to protect your brows, sun exposure will cause fading and can alter the color of your tattoo. Do not use chemical exfoliants on the brows, this will case the brows to fade faster. Do not do laser your brow area (IPL etc.), some lasers may change the color of the ink. As the tattoo fades the strokes will get fainter and less defined. Maintenance is required to maintain desired results. Touch-ups are done on average every 9 - 12 months to maintain your brow tattoo. Hair stroke brows typically last 1-3 years. Ombre brows typically last 2-5 years. POST APPOINTMENT (LIPS) Immediately After: The area will feel a bit sore and will look quite intense. There may be some swelling and minor bruising that only lasts for 1-2 days. The next day, the color of the tattoo will darken as scabs begin to form, there may still be some swelling or minor bruising The scab will fall off within 3-10 days depending on your skin and the procedure you had done The day of treatment: Fluids will leak from the tattoo to form scabs. You do not want these fluids to sit on your tattoo and form these scabs. You will want to wipe your tattoo every hour with a wet cotton round and pat the area dry to ensure no fluids sit and form scabs. You may ice the skin if it is feeling tender or swollen after the procedure. Wrap an ice pack or a ziplock of ice in a napkin and place on the area for as long as desired. Please do not eat any spicy foods for the first day or any kind of food or drink 1 hour after your appointment. Please refrain from kissing anyone for a few days. Day 2-10 DO NOT touch your tattoo with dirty fingers, remember it is an opened and healing wound. An infection could possibly ruin the tatto DO NOT get your tattoo too wet for too long. It will make the scabs soggy and easier to fall off prematurely. Remember, you want to keep the scabs on for as long as you can, let them fall off naturally. MOISTURIZE with the recommended or provided ointment. For lips, moisturize as often as you like. DO NOT sleep on your face to avoid lifting your scabs prematurely and make sure you’re sleeping on a clean pillowcase to avoid infection. AVOID harsh cleansers, creams, makeup, or any other products on the treated area until all the scabs have naturally fallen off. These things can jeopardize the healing of the tattoo. DO NOT pick, scratch or bite off the scabs. Let the scabs fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring, loss of pigment, or an infection. DO NOT expose your tattoo to UV rays or tanning beds for 4 weeks after the procedure. These things can alter the appearance of your tattoo dramatically. DO NOT sweat on the tattoo until all the scabs have come off naturally. Sweat will take the pigment from your tattoo. If you do sweat on them, dab it off immediately. DO NOT get any facials, Botox, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks post appointment date. After Scabbing Phase: Once the scabs have completely fallen off, you may apply makeup over the area and return back to your normal routine. Note that after the scabs come off your tattoo may have a milky/grey hue to it. This just means that the surface skin is healed but the underneath layers still need time to heal. The complete healing process takes 6 weeks. At 6 weeks the true and final color of the tattoo will show. It is only after 6 weeks that a touchup to the tattoo can be done. Please note that your tattoo will be softer and not as crisp when healed. Note that results will vary with each individual and are extremely dependant on your skin and how you care for it during healing. It may take more than one session to achieve your desired result. Once Fully Healed: It is strongly recommend that you do not use any of the following on your tattoo: Benzoyl Peroxide, Hydrogen Peroxide, Glycolic acid, Apple cider vinegar, Vitamin E and C, and Retinol. these products can lighten or fade your tattoo faster. We also recommend wearing sunscreen as the UV rays will deteriorate the pigment and lighten or fade the tattoo faster as well. Salt water and chlorine can also deteriorate the pigment faster as well. Rinse with water after contact. If you are having any laser or facial beauty treatments please inform your technician before procedures that you have a permanent makeup tattoo. This treatment does fade after 1-3 years depending on your skin and lifestyle. Touch-ups are necessary to maintain the longevity and overall beauty of your tattoo. If you have oily skin, an iron deficiency, or a very strong immune system, your pigment will not last as long and will not heal as crisp as others. Coverup works may need additional appointments to have better results as it is possible that the "coverup" tattoo may not completely cover the old one. Note that Megan only does coverups after having a consult with you. For all additional questions and concerns before booking your appointment please contact me (250)-986-5376 (text only) Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you!
